ABOUT US

     At Vilonia church of Christ we believe that God's pattern for leadership is found in the New Testament.  The early history of the church, found in the book of Acts, indicates that each congregation should select from among themselves a group of men to serve as shepherds or elders of the church. The qualities of the men who should serve as shepherds, or elders, are found in 1 Timothy 3 and Titus 1.

MEET OUR ELDERS:

     In Acts 6, the apostles asked the early church to select from among themselves a group of men to serve in a special way in ministering to the needs of the saints. This precedent was carried forward and other early congregations followed this pattern.

     The Biblical term for the office in which these men serve is "deacon." This role is vital to the church. While these men, by nature, are leaders they are not accountable for the church in the same manner as shepherds. The qualities of the men who should serve as deacons is found in 1 Timothy 3.
